I hope you still have some leftover homemade marshmallow creme because these rice krispy treats are a-mazing! Seriously y’all, these may be my new favorite rice krispy treats. My refrigerator is ridiculously full right now, and so to make room my only option was to use up my leftover marshmallow creme, right?? 😉  I thought about making marshmallow fluff rice krispy treats, but then it hit me – fluffernutter rice krispy treats! I considered just mixing some peanut butter into regular rice krispy treats, but I wanted my rice krispy treats to actually taste like a fluffernutter sandwich and I was pretty sure the fluff taste would be overpowered by the peanut butter. My solution: sandwich peanut butter and marshmallow fluff between two layers of regular rice krispy treats. OMG…. ridiculously good =). Just go ahead and put on your fat jeans (and try to forget that you’re going to Hawaii in 2 weeks!). They’re totally worth it. Enjoy!

Fluffernutter Rice Krispy Treats
3 tbsp butter or margarine
10.5 oz bag miniature marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispy cereal
2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
2-1/2 cups homemade marshmallow creme (or 1 (7.5 oz) jar marshmallow fluff)

1. In large sauce pan over low heat, melt butter. Add marshmallow and stir constantly until melted. Remove from heat and add in cereal, stirring until fully combined.
2. Press mixture onto lightly greased 15-1/2″ x 10″ x 1″ baking sheet (or whatever size you have is fine). Let sit for about 30 minutes or until mixture cools and firms up slightly. Slice in half.
3. Spread peanut butter on one half and marshmallow creme on the other half of the prepared rice krispy treats. Fold one side onto the other. (You are essentially making a fluffernutter sandwich, but instead of bread you’re using rice krispy treats.) Cut into squares.
