S’mores are kind of like the official dessert of summer. Okay, maybe they’d have to fight it out with ice cream to get an actual title, but whatever. They’re one of the official desserts of summer at least. 😉 I have to admit though, I’m not a huge s’mores fan. I like them, I just don’t love them. I only eat them when I’m camping =). But awhile back, I had to make something for a bake sale and I thought I’d be fun to do some different twists on rice krispy treats – because y’all know how much I love rice krispy treats! ;). A google search later and I had settled on s’mores bars made with golden grahams. Such a fun twist wouldn’t you say? Happy Summer! Enjoy!
S’mores Bars
1 bag (10.5 oz) miniature marshmallows (5 1/2 cups)
1 cup chocolate chips
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 box (13 oz) Golden Grahams cereal (8 cups)
1 1/2 cups marshmallow bits
1. Grease 13×9-inch pan. In 3-quart saucepan, melt chocolate chips, butter, corn syrup and marshmallows over low heat, stirring occasionally, until completely melted. Remove from heat.
2. Pour cereal into large bowl. Pour marshmallow mixture over cereal; stir until evenly coated. Stir in marshmallow bits.
3. With buttered back of spoon, press mixture in pan. Cool at least 1 hour or until firm. Store loosely covered at room temperature.
