I’m sure everyone has tried Red Lobster’s famous garlic cheese biscuits before. There are lots of copycat recipes out there, but this is the recipe that my family has been making for years. And in my opinion, they are even better than Red Lobster’s because they don’t leave a greasy film in your mouth ;). And only five ingredients – so easy! My brother doesn’t really like garlic and so we often omit the garlic powder. They are still delicious as cheese biscuits. They aren’t a super flaky biscuit but rather more soft and fluffy with a nice cheesy flavor. You should definitely give this recipe a try! Enjoy!
Garlic Cheese Biscuits
1 cup self-rising flour*
1 tbsp canola oil
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder (more or less depending on your tastes)
1/3 cup skim milk or buttermilk
1. Combine flour, cheese, and garlic powder in small bowl.
2. Stir in oil and milk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the dough.
3. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Flatten to about 1/2 inch thick and cut into desired shape (I used a 2 inch round cutter). Place on lightly greased baking sheet. (Alternately, you could drop the dough, ~1/4 cup each, onto lightly greased baking sheet.)
4. Bake at 450 for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Note: I always use White Lily Brand flour.
