If you follow me on Instagram stories (and you totally should!), you watched me make this yesterday morning. I know I said I wasn’t going to blog about it….but it was sooo good you guys! I had to ;). It’s a very simple recipe for french toast with very classic ingredients – nothing fancy here – but the homemade bread takes it to the next level! If you haven’t made my No-Knead Cranberry Walnut Bread, what are you waiting for?! It’s perfect with a little butter, makes a delicious sandwich, bomb croutons, and (as I suspected) makes killer french toast! Make a batch of this bread this weekend. Pop the leftovers in the freezer because you NEED to make this french toast! I promise. Enjoy!
Cranberry Walnut French Toast
~6-8 slices (about 1/2″ thick) No-Knead Cranberry Walnut Bread (or other crusty bread of choice)
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk (I used skim)
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
dash of salt
1. In shallow bowl or dish, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
2. Preheat nonstick skillet or griddle over medium to medium high heat.
3. Dip bread slices into egg mixture, letting it soak about 30 seconds. Place in lightly buttered, preheated skillet and cook until golden. Flip and cook second side until golden. Serve warm with maple syrup.
