Summer is almost over, which I’m both happy and sad about. School is back in session and since the majority of my family works in the school system, a lot of the fun stuff like camping and lake-time comes to an end (or really slows down at least). However, this summer has been hard in so many ways and I’m ready to move forward. Bring on fall! But first, here’s what I’ve been up to during these last few weeks of summer!

I’ve signed up for the Rocket City Marathon on December 10th, so I’ve been running a lot and I love it! I enjoy long runs, but I hate carrying water. I think I’ve tried every style water belt/carrier they make and I really don’t like any of them, but this one is tolerable. I’m also doing the Big South Fork 17.5 Mile Trail Race (which I’ve done 3 times before), so I’ve been doing some trail runs too and the picture at the top of the post is one I took after I ran up Skinner Mountain. That’s what I love about trail runs – beautiful views!

I hijacked some kids to take back to school shopping. Love these crazy boys!

We dug potatoes one Saturday night (partly in the rain haha) and look at the heart shaped potato I found!

I spent a lot of my summer studying for my board exam on August 19th. Now that it’s over, I’m not really sure what to do with myself. #somuchfreetime If I passed (which I won’t know until October), I won’t have to take any more exams for 10 years!!!

Last weekend, my cousin got married and after several attempts, we finally got a decent family picture =).

So many pictures. So much editing! I was already way behind on my editing, but I’m thinking now I will finally have time to get caught up!

I’ve been reading for FUN and it’s so…FUN! haha I’ve read two Jack Reacher novels, and I’m hooked! They’re easy, fast reading that doesn’t require any deep thought. I also read a really good book by Robin Cook called Cell, (I couldn’t put it down!) and a few John Grisham and Michael Connelly books.

I went to the movies for the first time in forever! I loved all the Bourne movies, and the newest movie was no exception. So good! Even better with a large diet coke and sour punch straws ;).

I’ve also been baking up a storm! I’ve made blueberry pies, homemade yogurt, pizza bites, cookies, and pretzel bread (hopefully coming to the blog soon!) – just to name a few!
