Remember how I was in love with Chick-fil-A lemonade? Yeah, I still am =). I spotted some beautiful lemons at the grocery store and decided it was time to make my own fresh squeezed lemonade – because that’s all Chick-fil-A lemonade is anyway. It couldn’t be easier – fresh lemon juice, sugar, and water. You can adjust the sweetness to your tastes, but I like mine slightly tart. Fresh squeezed lemonade is the perfect drink for summer! And who doesn’t like lemonade?? If you make your own, you won’t have to wait in line at Chick-fil-A ;). Enjoy!
Fresh Squeezed Lemonade
1 cup fresh lemon juice
3/4 cup sugar*
1 cup water
3-4 cups cold water (I used 3)
1. Combine sugar and 1 cup water in small saucepan and heat until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool while you juice your lemons.
2. Combine lemon juice, sugar and water mixture (aka simple syrup), and cold water. Stir to combine. Refrigerate until chilled.
Note: 3/4 cup sugar will give you a slightly tart lemonade. If you like your lemonade sweeter, make your simple syrup with 1 cup of sugar. You can also use Splenda (or sweetener of your choice), and since Splenda dissolves easily in water you will not need to heat.
